Every worker considered for placement will either be working a livable wage job through Uplift Northwest with ability to pay rent, or they will be working while receiving rental-subsidy support. Housing Connector's partnerships offer a cost-effective model for housing, costing roughly 3,900 to place and support a household in a property for two years. ![]() As part of the program, Uplift Northwest will commit to at least one year of housing stability support for the tenants we place, and we will help our workers navigate the needs of long-term housing stability. Housing Connector takes a business-to-business approach based on the belief that leveraging existing housing in the private market can meaningfully reduce homelessness. ![]() The program hopes to reduce barriers to housing and increase the region’s affordable housing capacity. Housing Connector, which uses Zillow-powered technology to help match people in need of a home with affordable vacant units, has successfully placed 3,754 people in homes during its first three. Their vision is for no housing units to sit vacant while there are men and women in need of a home. Housing Connector was recognized as a 2020 Puget Sound Innovator of the Year as well as a 2020 World Changing Idea by FastCompany. Housing Connector is a business-to-business organization that connects private property owners and managers to those most in need of housing. In a new partnership, Uplift Northwest is beginning a program to place workers in homes through Housing Connector.
